Description

71-75 Princes Street West in Helensburgh is a two-storey, six-bay symmetrical tenement built in 1864. The building features cream and pink sandstone rubble, which is rendered and lined to appear like ashlar on the north elevation, with painted ashlar dressings. It has a base course, a band course, a cornice, and a balustraded parapet that rises to a segmental-arched panel at the center, adorned with ball finials and an intertwining monogram "SW" along with the date. The north elevation also includes architraved and lugged segmental-arched windows.

On the north elevation facing Princes Street, there are two windows in the center, with a pair of segmental-arched doorways on either side. Each doorway features a consoled cornice and a deep-set panelled fanlit door. There is a window on the outer right and left sides as well.

The first floor has six symmetrically arranged windows, with the second bay from the right and left being blinded. Most of the windows are plate glass sash and case, with one 10-pane sash and case window, although some windows have been replaced.

The roof is covered in grey/green slate, with a rendered coped gable stack on the right, a corniced sandstone stack on the left, and a reduced stack in the center.
