Description

The Old Jail in Inveraray, built around 1820, is a plain Georgian structure designed by J Gillespie-Graham and features two storeys. The building is constructed of coursed rubble, with some areas harled, and has a piended slate roof. It has projecting pavilions on two sides and a moulded eaves course. The windows are fitted with iron bars. The interior was altered in 1841, creating two to three barrel-vaulted cells that open off a central corridor on both floors.
