Description

The New Jail in Inveraray was built around 1845 and is a Victorian structure designed by architect Thomas Brown. It has three storeys and an attic, constructed from coursed rubble that is partly harled, with gabled slate roofs and ashlar chimneys. A wing has been added to the south, and there is a gabled projecting bay on the north side. Inside, there are four vaulted cells on each floor that open off a vaulted corridor, except for the attic, which contains one long cell.
