Description

The Old Bridge at Shielhill Bridge is a large structure featuring a single segmental arch made of rubble, with parapets on either side. The arch spans 12 feet and widens at the approaches. There is an inset stone dated 1769. The east face of the bridge displays a sundial from 1770, which is supported by a carved corbel depicting a water kelpie. The bridge has a picturesque appearance but is in poor condition.
