Description

Farnell Castle is a three-storey, oblong building constructed of rubble and slate, featuring gabletted crowsteps, projecting guardrobes, and corbelled remains of a gallery on the east gable. It was formerly the residence of the Bishops of Brechin and underwent alterations with the addition of a projecting stair tower when it was secularised around 1566. In the 19th century, it was converted into an alms house.
