Description

James Playfair 1786-8. Rectangular plan, red rough ashlar,

2-storey treatment, arched windows at upper level with

original glazing: 7 windows down flank; end bays advanced;

5-windows w. gable, end bays advanced, 2-stage clock tower

and octagonal spire of very simple form. Slated. Interesting

galleried interior of slim superimposed doric orders;

segmental ceiling. Reseated John Carver 1873, further

alterations later; hall added 1904.
