Description
Newtonmill House is a two-storey building with an attic, featuring five windows on the front and two-window gables. The exterior is harled with splayed margins and dates back to the mid-17th century, although it has been remodeled at various times in the 18th century. Two back wings were added, with the eastern wing around 1740 and the western wing possibly slightly later, creating a twin gable appearance on the northern frontage. The doorway and the elliptical window at the center of the building were designed by architect Robert Hurd in 1959, as the originals were destroyed in the mid-19th century. Inside, there is notable interior work from various dates between 1700 and 1810. The western side features a rubble wall topped with ball finials.
