Description
North Bridge at Glamis Castle, built in 1866 by engineers W & R Blackadder, is a picturesque single segmental-arched bridge spanning Dean Water. It features a small round-headed arch to the north. The bridge is constructed from squared rubble with rusticated voussoirs, and includes a roll-moulded string course and moulded ashlar coping. The approaches are curved and battlemented.
On the east elevation, the central arch has a string course at the base of the parapet, which includes an inset panel inscribed 'AS 1866 ES' along with a coronet. There are flanking battlemented piers, each with a spout at the string course. The outer approaches are slightly set back and curved, with the right side featuring a small arch.
The west elevation mirrors the east elevation but includes a flight of rusticated steps to the outer left.
