Description
Bourtie House is a Grade A building dated 1754, marked by the initials PA (Patrick Anderson) and EO (Elizabeth Ogilvie) on the pediment. It is a three-storey T-plan structure that was tactfully extended to an H-plan in 1884. The south front features pinned rough ashlar with cherry cocking and has five windows, with the central bay projecting and topped by a pediment that includes a circular window. The openings are chamfered, and the ground floor windows are barred, complemented by skewputts and coped chimneys. The rest of the house is constructed from large uncoursed rubble, also with cherry cocking. The interior remains remarkably unaltered, showcasing an open wooden scale and platt central stair, while the drawing and dining rooms are panelled with scroll pediments over the chimney pieces. There are two simpler panelled rooms on the second floor.
