Description
Druminnor Castle is a historic building that dates back to 1577 in its current form. It features two storeys, a basement, and an attic. The exterior is harled with margins or mouldings, and it includes a round entrance stair tower at the northeast corner, which is corbelled to a square at the first floor. This tower has a polygonally-headed doorway with three armorial panels above it, as well as a gunport.
The original tower house was built around 1440 but was demolished. The basement and ground floor of the present structure date from the 15th century and both are vaulted. The ground floor showcases three fine pendant bosses, which have been restored by Ann Henderson. The first floor and attic likely date from the 1577 period, with walls that are intaken at the first floor level.
The interior has been remodelled by Archibald Simpson and has undergone further changes recently. His addition at the northwest has been demolished. There has been considerable repair and restoration work carried out from 1955 onwards.
