Description

The Mill of Kildrummy is an L-plan building comprising an 18th-century core and a later addition from the mid-19th century. The original section is a single storey and constructed from boulder rubble, including a kiln. A two-storey addition was built later in the 19th century, alongside a lean-to sawmill. The mill features a large water wheel known as a ‘start’ or ‘awe’ wheel, which has a double row of iron spokes. A complex arrangement of conduits directs water to both the wheel and a small water turbine.
