Description

Bear Lodge is a large, neo-Jacobean building, originally the manse of Kildrummy. The front section was designed by Thomas Mackenzie and James Matthews and built in 1850. It is a two-storey and attic structure with three windows, featuring twin shaped gables and a central porch, constructed from exposed rubble. A large, two-storey and attic wing was added in 1865, with masonry-gabled dormers and a harled finish. Contracts for the 1850 work were advertised in the Aberdeen Journal on March 13th, 1850.
