Description

Muchalls Castle is a three-storey, L-plan castle constructed between 1627 and 1649. The exterior is finished with harl (roughcast) and covered with a slate roof. A groin-vaulted ceiling is present on the ground floor, while the interiors incorporate Renaissance detailing. The walled courtyard features a gateway with the dates of the castle’s construction inscribed above it. The castle is designated as a Group Value building, recognised for its contribution to the character of the surrounding area alongside the coach house and gardener’s cottage.
