Description

Castleknowe, also known as Lynturk Castle, is a two-story, three-window house. The exterior is harled, and the roof is piended. A single-story wing extends from the rear of the main house, situated within an approximately circular fosse. The building is plain in architectural style and currently in a state of disrepair. Records suggest the ruins of an earlier castle, likely dating to the 16th century, remain on site. The current house was likely built around 1816 or shortly thereafter, probably by Peter McCombie. A gunloop is present in the steading at Lynturk.
