Description
Alford Parish West Church, located in Mansefield, was built in 1804 and extended in 1826. The church originally featured a round-arched design inspired by Kildrummy, complete with a bow staircase at the rear. The 1826 extension included the addition of a third south window. The exterior is harled with margins and has a bellcote on the west gable. Inside, there is a gallery supported by Doric columns. The church also has notable exterior wall monuments and tablets, including those for George Melvil from 1678, Mary Forbes (the Balfluig Monument) from 1725, which is elaborately panel framed with heavy mouldings and flanked by figures with labels, a winged putto on top, and a relief cadaver below, as well as a monument for William Badenach from 1746.
