Description
Countesswells House is a small mansion with a complex layout, likely dating back to the early 18th century. The northern part is the oldest section, featuring a two-storey main block with a basement that runs parallel. Around 1750, a five-window front with quoined corners was added, along with a three-storey projecting central bay topped with a shaped gablet. The wooden doorpiece and stops were installed around 1835. The house forms a U-shape open to the east. The northern wing has been internally remodelled, and a three-storey block with a canted bay was added in the early 19th century. A western wing was constructed in 1890. The building is made of rubble, with some areas harled, and much of the interior work remains original.
