Description

Two storey/ three bay vernacular farmhouse on W side of Lisnaree Road. Seems to have been raised from single storey in the early 20thC as upper floor is detailed differently from the ground floor. Pitched natural slate roof aligned N-S with overhanging eaves and plain bargeboards topped with terracotta finials. Red brick chimney to each gable and one between the central and right bays. Walls are harled rubble stone with brick dressings to some openings. Front elevation faces E. Each of the three bays has a 6/6 sash window at ground floor. That to centre is set to right of a single storey porch. Porch has a hipped natural slate roof and lined rendered walls. It has a steel casement window on its front (E) elevation and its right (N) cheek. There is a four panelled door on its left (S) elevation. The first floor of façade has four equally spaced segmental headed window openings; they are not in line with the ground floor openings, with two on the central bay. All have exposed boxes and the second one from the left retains a pair of side hung casement windows. Rest of the windows appear to have been sliding sashes. Right gable of house is blank. The rear elevation is harled and abutted to ground floor by a single storey lean-to. The remaining first floor has a 1/1 sash window to the central bay and another on the left bay. The lean-to has a mono-pitched roof; natural slated to left bay and corrugated iron to rest. Harled rubble stone walls. The left bay has a window opening. The central bay has a 2/2 window and a t+g sheeted door. The right bay has two 2/2 sash windows. The left gable of the main house has two small segmental headed 1/1 sash windows in the attic gable. Setting: A lane from front of house runs E to the road. At rear there is a farmyard. It is enclosed to W by a modernised two storey outbuilding with pitched artificial slate roof and external stair. The N side of the yard is enclosed by a single storey outbuilding with segmental corrugated iron roof and rubble stone walls with stepped brick dressings.
