6 Corry’s Square, Newry, Co Down, BT35 6AW

6 Corry’s Square is a three-storey, two-bay house located on the north side of Corry’s Square in Newry, County Down. Constructed in the early 1860s, it was erected alongside the adjoining house and the pair on the opposite corner, coinciding with the construction of houses on Maginnis Street. The property was not shown on the 1861 Ordnance Survey map but is referenced in the 1865 Valuation revision book.

The house has a hipped roof covered with artificial slate, shared with the adjacent property. Semicircular plastic rainwater goods are visible. The south elevation features cement render and rendered quoins. The main entrance is at ground floor level on the left, consisting of a modern six-panelled painted timber door with obscured glass above. To the right of the entrance is a modern, single top-hung plastic window with a granite cill. Each upper floor has two similar windows, aligned with the openings below, although the second-floor windows are reduced in height. The west elevation abuts a larger building while the east is a party wall shared with the adjacent property. The rear elevation, partially obscured by a modern ground-floor extension on the left, is also cement rendered. Two single, top-hung plastic windows are present on the rear elevation; one between the ground and first floors, and the other between the first and second floors. Similar windows are also located on the left side of the first and second floors. The rear yard is enclosed by a rendered wall. Most original features have been removed and replaced with modern elements, resulting in a limited amount of historic or architectural interest.
