Kidd's Bridge, Coagh Road, Cookstown, Co Tyrone

Kidd's Bridge is a picturesque, well-proportioned three-arch railway bridge located on the Coagh Road in Cookstown, County Tyrone. It dates to approximately 1867, with construction finalized between 1876 and 1879 as part of the Dungannon and Cookstown Railway line, later incorporated into the Great Northern Railway (GNR) network. Triple-arched railway bridges are relatively uncommon outside of this area, making this a notable feature of the GNR lines.

The bridge is constructed of rock-faced squared and snecked stone walls with irregular stone capping. The segmental-headed arches are dressed with brick, arranged in three rows of red brick, with a projecting rounded yellow brick row to the outer perimeter. The central arch is supported on two rock-faced cut-stone piers. The bridge is approximately 6 metres in width. It forms part of a series of railway bridges, representing a significant element of the surviving GNR network and sharing a similar design to Grange Road Bridge.

The railway line itself opened in July 1879, ceased carrying passengers in January 1956, and closed entirely in January 1965. The bridge is well preserved and remains in near original condition, contributing to its industrial archaeological interest and group value.
