St Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 13 Ardboe Road, Cookstown, BT80 0HT

St Peter's Roman Catholic Church was a church located on the Ardboe Road, Cookstown, and dating stylistically from the mid-19th century, likely between 1860 and 1879. The building comprised a nave, a lateral chancel, and a porch on the opposite side. The exterior walls were finished in roughcast, with a slated roof between parapet gables. Leaded light windows with coloured glass, set in two-centre arched openings with hood moulds and block surrounds, lit the nave. The recessed entrance was flanked by small columns, with a two-centre headed window positioned above it. A modern three-light window containing stained glass was placed in the chancel end wall. Galleries were present at each end of the nave, and a Tudor arch supported by moulded columns separated the nave from the chancel. Memorials in the adjacent graveyard dated back to 1856. The church was demolished in 1982 following the construction of a new church across the road, which opened in 1980. The site is now absorbed into the graveyard, and some surviving fragments of stonework have been incorporated into a garden feature. The listing has been retained pending further investigation of the demolition’s history.
