Grannan Primary School, Greenan Road, Trillick, Omagh, co Tyrone BT78 3SJ

This is a detached, symmetrical, single-bay, single-storey former primary school built in 1869. It is situated on the east side of Greenan Road, Trillick. The building retains its original plan and external appearance. The design is notable for its simple, classical style and contributes significantly to the area's architectural heritage, representing a former educational building for the local community.

The school is arranged in a T-plan, facing west, with a central gabled return to the west. The roof is covered in natural slate, incorporating blue/black clay ridge tiles and a single brick chimneystack corbelled to the west return. A corbelled eaves course supports u-profile cast-iron rainwater goods. The walls are roughcast rendered with stepped projecting quoins and a plinth. Windows have been removed and the openings are now boarded with stone cills. The principal west-facing elevation features a projecting entrance bay set forward, containing a centrally positioned vertically sheeted timber door flanked by window openings. A datestone to the apex reads "GRANNAN National School 1869." The north and south elevations each contain two window openings. The east elevation is blank. The building is set within a remote rural landscape and is bounded to the road by the remnants of a random rubble walling and wire fence.

The school first appears on the 1905 Ordnance Survey map, marked as ‘Grannan School’. It was added to Valuation Revisions in 1871 as a ‘National School & Garden’, valued at £2.15s. Records indicate the school was built in 1870, although the architect remains unknown.
