Gateway, Bank Vale, 14 Greenmount Road, Omagh, Co Tyrone, BT78 1UN

The gateway, constructed around 1865, is a single-span arched gatescreen located on the south side of Greenmount Road in Omagh. It is built of squared-and-tooled sandstone with flat coping to the piers and a coursed sandstone bell-cote atop, containing an original bell and weather vane within a segmental-arch-headed, chamfered opening. The arch itself is elliptical-headed with dressed stone voussoirs framing cast-iron gates. A single-storey outbuilding abuts the west corner of the gateway, while the east corner is adjacent to a smooth, rendered wall connecting to a house gable.

Buildings were present on the site as shown on Ordnance Survey maps from 1833 and 1852, but the farmyard complex, including the gatescreen, did not appear until the 1906 edition. Historic records indicate that around 1860, “house, office, and land” were leased from Hamill Stewart to James Clements, with the buildings valued at £1.5s. Subsequent revisions in 1864 and 1869 showed increased valuations, with notes referring to "good offices" and "additional buildings," suggesting the gateway likely dates close to this period. Ownership passed to Robert Clements in 1910, and then to R Guy Clements in 1922. The gateway demonstrates fine craftsmanship with original stonework detailing and dressings largely intact. While of some visual appeal, it is a minor element of the wider farmyard, which is not considered of significance.
