'Farthings' 31 MelmountRoad, Strabane, Co Tyrone BT82 9EE

'Farthings' is an early twentieth-century, two-storey thatched cottage ornée located on the outskirts of Strabane, County Tyrone, set within spacious grounds. The construction date is estimated to be between 1940 and 1959, and it is possibly the work of Londonderry architect Ivan Lynch around 1950. The house is asymmetrical in plan, featuring a complex roof thatched in the English style with box ridges. Parts of the exterior are half-timbered, while the remainder is rough cast. The windows are steel, with a diamond pattern. Three tall chimney stacks are set at a 45-degree angle. A formal garden extends to the front of the property, with two entrances connected by a curved drive. The building is currently in use as a house. A partial survey was undertaken, and while of local interest, 'Farthings' is not considered to have sufficient special architectural or historic interest to warrant a full survey or listing.
