Description

An asymmetrical direct-entry single-storey, three-bay rubblestone dwelling with thatch under tin roof and associated outbuildings; built c.1830 and accessed via a laneway to the east of Brone Park, northeast of Garvagh. Rectangular plan with outshot to west. Pitched corrugated tin over partial straw thatch roof. Plastic rainwater goods. Walling is random rubblestone with cement render at east; cement rendered brick to south gable. Remnants of timber and metal window frames in plain reveals with projecting concrete sills. The principal elevation faces east and is four windows wide with entrance to left of centre (door missing). Enlarged window opening with remnants of metal frame to far left. The south gable is blank. The west (rear) elevation has out-shot to right, with two metal framed window openings; left bay has timber framed window to centre. The north gable is blank; partially abutted by ruin of former rubblestone byre. Setting: Situated in an unspoiled rural setting to the east side of Brone Park, accessed via an earth lane and surrounded by farmland. Single-storey rubblestone outbuildings to north with corrugated tin roofs; one forming linear group with house has wide opening to east formed in red-brick and red brick eaves course; internal walls are partially whitewashed. Detached outbuilding further north has cement rendered bricks to southwest corner. Site enclosed by metal railings to south.
