Scout Hall, 8 Market Street, Ballycastle, Co Antrim, BT54 6DP

This is a small, unassuming former Methodist church, built around 1830. It is located in Ballycastle, Co. Antrim, neatly positioned at an acute angle to Market Street. While not considered to possess special architectural or historical merit, it retains features representative of its time.

The building is a single-storey structure, four bays long, with a gabled porch. The front elevation features a projecting gabled porch, and a circular window with a plain architrave at its centre. A door is located on the south-facing side wall. The porch has concrete precast barge stones. The south wall contains four roundheaded windows, with the lower portion subdivided into smaller panes, and the upper portion consisting of four larger panes topped with a segmented arch. A single sheeted door is situated at the east end of the south wall. The east gable has no windows. A narrow lean-to structure adjoins the north wall. The walls are roughcast and painted, and the roof is slated and gabled with bargeboards. Originally, the main entrance faced Moyle/Clare Street.

The Methodist chapel was constructed before 1831, as evidenced by the Ordnance Survey Memoirs record of 1831. It ceased functioning as a Methodist place of worship after the First World War, and is now used as the premises for 1st Antrim SICSI, with minor adaptations made for this purpose.

The building is located within a conservation area.
