Gates at St Luke's Church, Main Street, Loughgall, Armagh, Co Armagh

These are a pair of mid-19th century wrought and cast iron gates, accompanied by an ironwork overthrow, which create an attractive entrance to the churchyard of St Luke’s Church. The gates are set between square piers constructed of ashlar limestone, topped with shallow pyramidal limestone caps. The right-hand gate bears the inscription “Armagh Foundry 1851”. An arched wrought iron overthrow, featuring scrolling finials, connects the two piers. The gates, piers, and overthrow were erected in 1851. They stand in front of St Luke's Church, facing the main road and forming part of the church’s front boundary within a conservation area. The structures are of local interest and possess social, cultural and economic importance.
