Description

This slightly skewed triple-arch road bridge, carries a minor road over the River Lagan. Probably of early 19th century (possibly late 18th century) date, of random rubble masonry construction throughout. Cutwaters at both ends of piers, rising to just above arch spring level. Arches are of semicircular profile, with split stone voussoirs. The right arch is dry in normal circumstances and the middle one is higher and wider than the others. Parapets terminate in in-projecting square piers. Square blind niche in middle of road face of upstream parapet. Grass verges between parapets and carriageway. Vestiges of water pipe in the form of metal brackets, across upstream (E) face. Deck is humped. Setting Surrounded to all sides by fields.
