Crofton Cottage, 6 Croft Road, Holywood, County Down, BT18 0PB

Crofton Cottage was a two-story house, likely dating to the mid-19th century. It faced northwest with a front approximately 45 feet wide, arranged in three bays. The outer bays were gabled and projected forward, featuring decorative bargeboards and a pinnacle. The upper floor had triplet flush-faced windows with horizontal astragals, continuous moulded labels with four drops, moulded sills, and corbels. The ground floor had oriel windows with pilaster mullions and jambs, supported by an entablature and blocking course. These windows also lacked astragals and featured panelled aprons. The central recessed bay contained a two-light flush-faced window matching the upper floor, and a projecting porch with channelled side walls, dentilled eaves cornice, and a blocking course. The porch doorway was topped with a square rising sun fanlight above a panelled door, with moulded steps leading up from a lower terrace. A glass house was attached to the right-hand gable, alongside a crenellated wall that enclosed a coach yard with associated outbuildings, the outbuildings also featuring decorative bargeboards. The building was originally rendered, lined, and painted, with raised quoins and a bevel base. The original roof was slated and gabled, with rendered and moulded chimneys. The building has since been demolished, and a replacement dwelling now occupies the site.
