Description
The garden shelter, presumed demolished, was originally located within wooded grounds at Glenganagh, Groomsport, County Down. A partial survey from 1973 described it as having boulder rubble walls and a pitched roof with exposed barges and rafters on the underside. The front was open, with apron walls on the sides, and small sandstone columns on each side. A rounded concrete coping finished the structure, while the floor was pebble-laid. The interior walls were decorated with plastic rubble and seashells. The shelter was approximately 12 feet wide. It was suggested to be of mid-19th century origin, with a subsequent reconstruction. The condition was fair, but the decorative elements were damaged.
