Description

This is a former flax spinning factory, built around 1800 and demolished circa 2006. It originally comprised sixteen bays and three storeys and was constructed of stone. Only the lower parts of the walls remain. A mill manager’s house was situated on the site, and retains 18th-century proportions. Rear additions to the house formed an interesting complex, however, all buildings on the site have undergone significant remodelling and inappropriate alterations, and are no longer considered to meet listing criteria. Architectural and historical interest are not qualifying factors for listing in this case.
