ST5445 ST ANDREW STREET 662-1/7/248 (North side) No.6

GV II

House in row. Late C18, with mid C19 alterations. Rendered and colourwashed, rubble in rear wing, slate roof, brick stacks. Front range, with entry to right, has long rear wing, with access by throughway under next property (not included). EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic, 2 bays; a 3-light casement hipped dormer above 4-pane sashes in plain reveals. At ground floor, right, a 9-panel C19 door under transom-light. At left end is a panelled pilaster. The coved cornice runs full width and returns to the plain gable end to the right. INTERIOR: not inspected. The site has been occupied at least since the C13, when the street was known as Byestewel. The present property was probably rebuilt at the same time as Nos 4 and 5 (qqv) with which it shares some details, and is included for group value.
