Description
Sandbeck West Bridge consists of two bridges, one spanning Sandbeck and the other crossing Throstle Gill, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The two bridges are positioned at right angles and are connected by a parapet wall.
The bridge over Sandbeck is constructed of ashlar stone featuring chamfered rustication. It has a single semicircular arch with a hoodmould and is flanked by pilasters. There is a decorative band and a parapet with segmental coping.
Approximately 5 meters to the south, the bridge over Throstle Gill is made of roughly-dressed stone and rubble. It also has a single semicircular arch, formed from roughly-dressed voussoirs with herringbone tooling, and features a parapet with ashlar segmental coping.
