Description

No. 31, Castle Hill is a large cottage dating from 1781. It is built of colour-washed uncoursed rubble, with a new roof and chimney stack. The cottage is two storeys high, featuring two modern three-light windows on each floor, and a modern door. It is set back from the pathway. The building was constructed by William Thompson as a hospital for tailors’ widows. It forms a group with Nos. 27 to 33 (odd).
