Description
Ruswarp Hall, located at 4 and 6 High Street in Ruswarp, dates from the late 17th century. This two-storey building is constructed of brick and features seven stone windows with mullions and transoms, each adorned with alternating broken triangular and broken segmental pediments. The central entrance boasts a bolection moulded stone door surround, which includes a double curved frieze and a broken segmental pediment that encloses a square block with lozenge ornament and a ball finial.
The roof, which was replaced in the 19th century, is now slate instead of the original double gabled roof with dormers. The gables on the side elevation are tall and wide, showcasing two broken segmental pedimented windows on the first floor and two three-light mullioned windows at the gable apex. The ground floor features triangular pedimented windows.
On the rear elevation, there are five windows similar to those at the front, along with a central staircase window that consists of three lights, where the outer lights are transomed and the center light is round-headed, topped with a broken triangular pediment. The building has stone eaves and capped gables.
