Description

West Pier Lighthouse was built in 1831 based on the design of Francis Pickernell, the engineer for the Harbour Trustees. The lighthouse features fluted Doric columns topped with an octagonal lantern that has glazing on the seaward side, an octagonal lead dome, and a vane. There are rails surrounding the lantern. Notably, it was visited by Princess Victoria in 1834.
