Description
The gateway to the Church of St Agatha, located approximately 25 metres north-east of the church, was built around 1869 and is likely designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott. It is constructed from rubble and ashlar stone. The gateway features a double-chamfered pointed arch with continuous moulding, supported by chamfered plinths. It is flanked by pilaster buttresses that are coped at the top, and from these buttresses rise lateral gablets that embrace the main gable above the archway, which is adorned with ashlar coping stones. This structure is included for its group value with the church.
