Description
This building is a barn and byre range located approximately 15 metres east of the Manor House. It likely dates from the 18th century and incorporates datestones from 1670 and 1656, associated with William or John Knighton. The structure is made of coursed squared gritstone and has a graduated stone slate roof, probably consisting of six bays. It features quoins and a cart entrance to the right of the centre, which has chamfered quoined jambs and a segmental arch. There is a byre door at the far right with an ogee-chamfered lintel that shows traces of an inscription, likely reading 'R 1656 B'. On the upper floor to the left, there is a pitching door with a recessed chamfered surround. The left side of the building has a bulbous kneeler and gable coping. The left return includes a byre door on the right with an ogee-chamfered lintel inscribed with 'WK 1670'. It is believed that the 1670 lintel was removed from the Manor House when John Knighton added the porch in 1696.
