Description
Nos 23 and 24 in Market Place, Ripon, are 17th century buildings, possibly older. They feature a timber-framed structure with 20th century applied timber-framing on the second floor and attic. The roof is made of stone slate and has a gable end facing the street. The buildings stand three storeys high with attics and consist of three bays, although one bay now belongs to Nos 21 and 22 and is above their carriage entrance, leaving only one attic bay. The ground floor has been modernized, while the first floor showcases unusual 17th century plaster rustication and has a tiled pent roof supported by three large curved wooden brackets. The first floor also includes casement windows, with the exception of sashes in shallow canted oriels.
