Description

A farmhouse with an attached store, likely dating from the late 17th century, and subsequently altered with additions to the rear and right side. The farmhouse is constructed of rough stone rubble walls, with the lower portion limewashed, and has a graduated greenslate roof, a stone ridge, and two end chimneys, the left chimney being a large, projecting stepped stack. The building’s plan is T-shaped. The front elevation is two storeys high, while the rear is three storeys, creating a split level. It has two irregularly placed late 19th-century casement windows with vertical glazing bars and segmental arched heads on the ground floor. There are two doors: a boarded door on the left and a part-glazed 4-panelled door on the right, both sheltered by a lean-to slate roof supported on three cast-iron columns. Inside, the farmhouse retains heavy chamfered oak beams and joists, particularly in the rear bedrooms, along with 17th-century doors, old pegged oak floors, and 18th-century panelled cupboard doors. Victorian cast-iron fireplaces are found in the bedrooms, and there is an oak dog-leg staircase.
