Description
Nos 38 to 48 on Main Street in Hensingham is a late Georgian to early Victorian terrace built in 1814. The buildings feature scored stucco, while Nos 40 to 44 are pebbledashed. Each house has a round-arched doorway with a fanlight and mostly panelled doors. They all have one sash window on the ground floor and two above. Nos 38 and 44 retain their original 12-paned sashes, while the others have had their glazing bars removed. Nos 44, 45, 46, and 47 boast attractive traceried fanlights and Gothic labels. No 48 is three storeys high, featuring a two-storey bay window and an added porch. This terrace, along with Nos 35 to 48 and Nos 81 to 99, as well as Nos 4 to 8 Garden Villas, forms a cohesive group.
