Description
Manor House, also known as Winchester House School, is a building located on Brackley High Street. It was rebuilt between 1875 and 1877 in the Elizabethan style for the 3rd Earl of Ellesmere. The structure has two storeys and attics, constructed from coursed rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings. The roof is gabled and features both stone slates and tiles, along with gabled dormers and tall clustered shafts on the chimneystacks.
The windows are mainly casement types with lattice designs, stone mullions, and transoms, and they have chamfered reveals and some with dripmoulds. The south courtyard front includes some half-timbering and plaster infilling on the top floor, which is backed by brickwork. There is a tower and turret to the west of the main garden front, which features a stone gabled porch. Additionally, there is a 16th-century road porch with a four-centred arch, a dripmould, and the original door.
