Description

Number 56 High Street comprises two buildings. The southern building dates to the early 18th century, though its front facade was likely rebuilt in the 19th century, and its sash windows were altered at that time. It is constructed of ashlar with a stone modillioned cornice and side pilasters. A Welsh slate roof has three renewed attic dormers. There are three sash windows. The front door features a flat moulded stone hood supported by scrolled brackets, with a pulvinated frieze. The northern building is said to have been constructed in 1883 by Lord Barrington. The interior of the southern building has been modernised.
