Description
Flint Cottage, located at 4 Granville Place, is a 19th-century building dating from 1854. It features flint rubble construction with flush red brick quoins and dressings, topped by a Welsh slate roof. The façade displays triangular and lozenge patterns made of bottle ends above the ground floor windows and on either side of the first floor windows. The cottage is two storeys high and has two sash windows set in reveals, with pointed arched glazing bars. The arches above the first floor windows are round, while the ground floor arches are nearly pointed, both featuring keystones. There is a similar arch over the door, which includes a fanlight with pointed arched glazing bars. The building is noted partly for its curiosity. The initials "J M W" and the date "1854" are carved on the keystone of the door.
