Description
The Dog Kennels, located in the grounds of The Chalet, were built in the late 19th century for Alfred de Rothschild of Halton House. The structure features a cast iron frame with columns that have acanthus leaf capitals and an open work scrolled ventilation frieze at the eaves. The walls are weatherboarded and sit on a brick plinth, with brick gable end walls and a corrugated iron roof. It is a single-storey building with four windows that include glazing bars and a two-section stable type door. Guests were transported from Halton House on a pony carriage to enjoy the expansive view from The Chalet and were entertained nearby at a skittle alley.
