Description

Fern Cottage is an 18th-century cottage in West Wycombe. It is constructed with a flint rubble base and red brickwork, topped with old tiles on the roof. The cottage is two storeys high with an attic. It features two flush casement windows on each floor, each with two lights and glazing bars, and wooden mullions. The ground-floor windows are topped with cambered relieving arches. A cut bracketed doorhood sits above fielded door panels, two of which are now glazed. The building has a modillion brick cornice. A modern weatherboarded lean-to has been added to the north side elevation. The cottage is part of a group that also includes No 39A, No 39, 40A, 41, 41A, 42, 42A, 43A, 43, 44, and the Christadelphian Chapel.
