Description

North Cottage and South Cottage at Manor Farm are two small houses that were formerly one building. The structure includes a 15th-century wing and a larger 17th-century cross wing to the right, both of which have been altered. The 15th-century wing is rebuilt in brick and whitewashed, while the cross wing is rendered and whitewashed over a timber frame. The roofs are covered with old tiles, and the cross wing features a half-hipped roof. There are large external brick chimneys, one on the left and another at the center of the cross wing.

The 15th-century wing has one storey and an attic with 1½ bays. The full bay to the left has a 20th-century four-light barred metal casement on the ground floor and a three-light wooden casement in a raking dormer at the eaves line. The half bay has a similar two-light dormer, a single light, and a 20th-century door with a flat hood. There is also a 20th-century weatherboard extension at the rear left corner.

The 1½-storey cross wing features a 20th-century five-light metal casement on the ground floor, a three-light wooden casement above, and a 20th-century door at the angle with a small 20th-century brick extension to the right side. Inside, the 15th-century wing has two well-shaped and chamfered cruck trusses, with a first floor inserted in the 17th century that includes wide stop-chamfered joists and a spine beam, one end of which rests on a moulded bracket. The 17th-century wing has a timber frame with diagonal braces, and the front room also features a stop-chamfered spine beam and joists.
