Description
The Stables and Laundry Wing at Parham Park is located directly north of the main house and forms a complete courtyard. Built by Sir Cecil Bisshopp, the sixth baronet, between 1700 and 1778, the structure features stone rubble with ashlar quoins. The south-facing front has a central section with three sash windows, a high four-centred carriage arch, and one window on each side on both the ground and first floors. Above the arch, there are three windows on the second floor. The building has a cornice with corbel heads and a parapet. Its pyramidal tiled roof is topped by a square stuccoed turret, which has an octagonal clock face on the north and south sides, along with a cupola featuring a lead dome and weather vane.
On either side of the central section, there are two sections with two sash windows and three windows, all beneath a slate roof. Beyond these, each end portion has a higher elevation with two sash windows and one window, also featuring a cornice and parapet. The windows are casement types set in cemented architrave surrounds, with cement-coated mullions and transoms.
The east-facing front is a single-storey building with a hipped slate roof. It has four window bays with round-headed blank arches on each side, and a central section containing four square-headed casement windows, along with a corbelled chimney in the middle. Above this central portion is a cornice and parapet adorned with two cartouches, each topped with a raised panel and a ball cap. Completing the courtyard is a plain block to the north and a wall to the west.
