Description
The Church of St Mary is a Grade I listed parish church located in Easebourne. The original structure, which is the south aisle, dates back to the 11th century and became the priory church in the 13th century. The tower was built in the 12th century. The nave and chancel were added in the 13th century and remained part of the parish church. In 1876, the entire church was rebuilt and restored by Sir Arthur Blomfield. The south or Montagu chapel, also constructed during this restoration, houses notable memorials for the Montagu and Poyntz families, which were relocated from Midhurst. The church is built of rubble and features a tiled roof, with the chancel including the south mortuary chapel of the Montagu family, a nave with a south aisle, and a tower at the west end of the aisle topped with a shingled spire.
