Description
Burlow Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century or earlier. It is primarily timber-framed, with much of the back plastered, although some timber framing is still visible. The front has been re-faced with red brick and grey headers around the year 1800. The building features a steeply-pitched hipped slate roof with an off-center brick chimney stack. It stands two storeys tall and has four windows on the front elevation, which includes casement windows. There is a blocked cambered-headed doorcase opposite the chimney stack, indicating that it may have originally had a lobby entrance plan. The doorcase is now located on the left side under a projecting gabled porch that is supported by wooden piers. The rear elevation has three casement windows and a small flat-roofed extension. Additionally, there is a 20th-century lean-to extension on the southwest side.
