Description
Milton Court Barns is a pair of barns connected by a cartshed, dated 1832 as indicated by a plaque on the southeast elevation, which features a crown and the initial P. The barns are constructed of flint with red and grey brick diaper work used for the quoins, plinth, and pilasters, and they include two tiers of six ventilation slits. The roofs are made of slate. The gable ends have four tiers of ventilation slits and unloading doors. There are cambered double doors on the outer sides and gabled brick porches on the inner sides. The porch of the southeastern barn includes a dovecote in the gable. Inside, the barns have seven bays with scientific kingpost roofs, which feature three tiers of purlins and diagonal braces. The porches have round-headed arches. An unusual radiused internal brick corner connects to the former cartshed, which was originally open-ended with five circular brick piers but has now been enclosed with weatherboarding.
